The 'Octopus CD/DVD Index' application creates indexes (table of
contents) of your floppy or CD/DVD discs. This application is free,
simple, effective and easy to use.

Go to

http://biostat.aspweb.cz/OctopusInfo.htm

to free download 'Octopus CD/DVD Index' application.

New version (1.0.4) is now available - improved searching, database
export/import ability added.

Enjoy!

I tried this out. Looks OK, if you don't mind .NET applications. No
spyware or adware detected, and scanned clean with Symantec Antivirus.

It's prettier than MaxLister (http://www.acc.umu.se/~max/), and seems to
have about the same functionality. I still prefer MaxLister, however,
since it's a no-install, and you can store the database where you like,
and you can have it store the data in plain text files if you want.
Octopus doesn't tell you where, or give you a choice on the location of
the database, as far as I can see, and has its own internal format for it
with no option for any other. It does store the date and time of each
file/folder, where MaxLister doesn't.

Still, not bad for a version 1.0.

Note that it is freeware for both personal and commercial use (as is
MaxLister, I believe).
