Free MIDI to WAV convertor?

Does anyone know of one? Needs to be "actually free" rather than shareware
(which is all that a Google search for "free midi convertor" seems to bring
up).

There is Winamp, but I want something that just does that one job. Converting
to other formats like MP3 or WMA would be OK too.

Timidity++

Excellent tool, get bigger soundfonts for better sounds, doesn't use your
grotty PC sondacard.

I found it a bit .....interesting to get running a few years back, but now
there's loadsa help here

Oh, dear, all the sites don't seem to answer, I don't know what's afoot,
see if you can find

timidity-2.13.0 for windows, and Tim Brechbill's help site, ATM I'm getting
404's everywhere

That's a new one on me - maybe a bit of overkill; the editing facilities
etc.

TBH, I can only edit in staff, like cakewalk express. (or rosegarden, if I
could make it work, if I could make linux work)

The big advantage ISTM of timidity is that when rendering midi to an audio
file, it's very speedy, and my quick look at Synthfont makes it appear to
do it in real time, which can be a bit of a bugger when you've got a lot to
do.

Still synthfont does seem to have a lot to offer the right customer :-0
