FREE Mailwasher Once Again.....

C

Carey Frisch [MVP]

I don't believe the program works as you suggest
since you have used it to SPAM several Microsoft
newsgroups! Very poor advertising on your part!

Carey....I have been around the MS news groups probably as long as you have
(if not longer) and I used to use Mailwasher before my ISP put filters on.
And I will also add that I have no monetary interest in this company.
(which doesn't really take too many brain cells to figure out when the
program is FREE)

I was merely saving time in letting people on these 5 ng's know that it now
had a free version once again.....something I just discovered 24 hours ago.
For those that hate being deluged with spam, this is a good little proggie.

Now....if you don't like the program, say so. If you don't like
cross-posting, say so. But I am sure had I posted it individually to the 5
news groups , you probably would have complained as well.

MW is a very useful program but if it's the same as the old one the free
version only works on one account. If you have more than one you'll need
the Pro version.

H

Heather

True...forgot about that. But OTOH, most of those wanting an anti-spam aide
are just using their ISP account. Yahoo and Hotmail do their own thing.
And yes.....it is the same old one, but version 5.1. I haven't used it for
a year and a half.

Cheers......Heather

http://www.insideoe.com/resources/tools.htm
lists MW and also magic mail monitor, which has no paid version.
mmm3 works on as many accounts as you care to feed it. It is
not as simple as MW and I think it's more powerful, but you do
have to figure it out. Worth doing if you spam magnet yourself.

Best anti-spam program (imo) out there and I see the author (Nick Bolton)
has released a free version once again......

http://www.mailwasher.net/ to read all about it. (version 5.1)

The following is a direct link to Download.com for the free program.

Thanks for the heads up Heather.

Very good program. I'm still using one of the last freeware versions (2.0)
Glad they decided to make it free again. Haven't had an email I didn't want
make it to my computer in donkeys years. (Free version is still limited to a
single account, nothing new there)

Thank you....that was my sole reason for posting it. To let people know
that a new free version was out again. Before my ISP put filters on here, I
got about 80-100 spam emails per day. MW was a godsend!! Used it since
version 1.0 (G).

Cheers...Heather
Love your tag line....grin

She didn't use MW to spam anything, you fool. It's a mail
preview/delete/bounce program. Her post is far more useful and
informative than most the copy-pasted and inapplicable crap you spew
out. And since when is informing fellow users of a FREE and useful tool
considered advertising?

What a dope!

Both of them are new to me.
Which is better?
I downloaded both, but wait for recommendation on either one of them before
installation. Or would it be a matter of preference?
And - are they actually necessary with the popular programs already
installed?

Harry.....Mailwasher is easier to set up and use, in my opinion. Try that
one. I did try the other one years ago, but preferred MW.

You didn't do anything wrong Heather. Carey is an egomaniacal idiot who
lacks the most basic respect for others and apparently thinks he owns MS
NGs by virtue of his ill-deserved MVP title.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I've been using MW 2.0 for years and
it's good to know a new version is free again.

Carey has been here from the inital release of WinXP, but he's hardly
progressed in his knowledge of computers OR of WinXP since then.

He continues to cut and paste replies to posts that he's clueless
about, much as he did from Day One.

Why he was admitted into the MVP Club, I'll never understand.

ROFL!! Well, that certainly explains a lot. I thought he was extremely
rude, but perhaps he is better at that than actually helping people with
problems.

Ditto on your last sentence. Who needs rude MVP's??

Thank you Uncle Grumpy, for the heads up.

Actually, I find the posting of relevant and useful freeware to be of
interest, especially if the OP has taken the time to test and evaluate. One
of the MS-MVP's in another NG posted a reference to "Crap Cleaner",
www.ccleaner.com , and I have found that to be extremely effective and a big
time saver (as opposed to manual cleaning). I should add that I believe ALL
of the MS-MVP's provide a great service and should be respected for their
efforts, to include yourself, Carey. However, IMHO, I do think your
response to Heather was, just a tad, uncalled for.
Heirloom, old and just my opinion....I could be
wrong

No, not unless you post using your actual email address, as you seem
to have done, which spam magnetizes that email address - automatic
harvesting engines are likely to see to it that you do get spam.

mmm3 has no concern for the new user, so I created quicky
get-up-to-speed documentation when swen hit two years back.
I think the hits that got helped put my then-isp out of business.
What I'll do is to repost it here:

Michael:

Your link offers the 2.94b10 zip version and I have already the next and
latest one downloaded, i.e. magic-2.94b11 zip.
I'll definitely have a look at it.
Thank you.

My three page website has it changed now to 11.
It has a lot of left over urgency from way back when.
I don't think that's appropriate, but it isn't as easy to fix.

Cheers,

Michael
