yesterday I was about finished with a computer for work..
xp pro. This will be a public access computer so i had all
the configurations set in xp and other software. Something
weird happened... i was trying to right click on the C
drive to then click on find.. the windows installer came
up, *acted* like it was installing something then it came
up with a symantec error. I kept hitting cancel. Then it
seemed no matter what i clicked on things started
uninstalling nearly all the programs.. anything MS, and
some others. I started reinstalling the programs and things
seemed ok..

I called one of our service providers and one tech had this
happen.. he said it was a corrupt msi.exe? the microsoft
installer? other than using the recovery cd and wiping
everything out is there anyway around this? Symantec will
not uninstall/reinstall. For now i'm starting a new pc..
hope things go smoother.

thanks
