Frames Navigation with Page Banner

I've set up a site with framed and non-framed pages. I'm using Page Banners
(I like the graphic used on the template we're using) on the top of each
page. Here's dilema:

I understand that my framed page consists of three pages:
1 - side bar
2 - main page (which includes Page Banner)
3 - overall page containing both above

I've included page #3 my all encompasing page under my navigation structure,
but to have Page Banner show, I need to add #2 page to the navigation
structure.

Make sense?

Can I simply grab the graphic from somewhere add text to it and place it on
the page as any other image instead of messing with the Page Banner crap?

FP Navigation components (which includes the page banner based on Navigation View) are NOT designed
to be used with Frames.

You can get the page banner (without text) from the _themes folder, in
the folder named with your theme name.
You can also get the banner with text from the _derived folder -
requires a local web (on your PC) and using Windows Explorer to copy
it to somewhere outside the web. Then rename th file, and in
FrontPAge, File->Import to the images folder for use on the page.
Then remove the page from Navigation.

With the layout you describe, why use frames with all their problems
anyway?
