fractions written using equations appear in doc but dont print

fractions written using equations appear in doc but dont print- I have gone
thru the insert - then equations to get the fractions to appear w/ the
numerator right above the denominator- this is how it appears on the screen
but only the fraction bars prints out

I am having the same problem. A document was created in 2007 and the
equations do not print from the document. When I create a new document, the
equations do print. What setting am I missing?
