FP2003 won't open in Admin, but in User

I have Windows XP Home on my Sony Vaio. When I open the FP
2003 program in under my Administrator account, it
crashes. When I log off and open it under my User account,
it opens and runs fine. Can anyone shed light on this?

Hi Steve,

Might have something to do with the user Profile/customization that is
saved in the cmdui.prf file. Login as Administrator and rename the file
$Profile\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State\CMDUI.Prf file to
something else and start FP again.

An earlier post suggested deleting that file. I did that
and I still have the problem. (I also deleted all *.web
files in both accounts.)

I can start up FP2003, but when clicking on the web name,
that is when it freezes. Thanks for helping. Any more
ideas are welcome!

I created another Administrator account and started FP.
After clicking on open site, and typing in the site name
(full URL), a box appeared saying "Connecting to Web
server..." It freezes there, though the animated icon
continues to function. The site does not open.

As to the registry stuff you mentioned, I was not sure
when to attempt the changes, before my steps above, in
addition to them, or in place of them, or after them.

works then you could try moving your profile information (mails, documents,
etc from this folder to that new folder.

BTW: You could also try renaming the following FP stuff from the Admin

check if it works.

If the above does not work, then in the current admin account where it
freezes do the following,

site. Windows Task Manager says: Not Responding. Your
steps 1 and 2 also did not change anything. I uninstalled
FP and reinstalled and the problem persists.

Hi Steve,

If you mean when you run from the command prompt the page opens, the site
does not open and no errors are displayed - in that case it is mostly an
issue with Web Folders. To confirm this, just go to Network Places and add
a new network place and point it to your http://location. This would fail
or freeze. If it does, then just delete all your existing Web folders to
http locations and go as per the KB documented at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287402

BTW can you browse to that site from IE?

OK, I tried to create a new network place to my web site
(which opens fine in Netscape and MSIE browsers), but it
failed. Unfortunately, I wandered into the Network
connections area and screwed up my TW cable setup. Now
when I try to download mail from Netscape mail, it wants
to dial up through Earthlink rather than just get my mail.
I'll have to fix this before I can do the other thing.
