FP2000- How2 stop Import Web from changing default.htm to index.ht

Restoring things after a harddrive wipeout, I was importing webs from online -
to disk based webs on my pc... only way I could figger to Import was to
create an "empty web". Problem was that as the import progressed, an
index.htm was created in the main directory [along with a default.htm] and
then a popup announced:
"This web already contains a document called 'index.htm'.
Would you like to replace the existing file?"
[There are NO index.htms in the online webs I maintain! My web host requires
'default.htm' for the folder's default pages.]
I clicked Yes. [I also tried another time, clicking Yes.]
The default.htm disappeared.

FP2000 created an index.htm in all folders that contained a default.htm [and
*did not* import the default.htms] - and, worse, changed all the links
formerly to default.htms to go to the new index.htms instead.

To rectify, I had to delete all the index.htms and drag all .htms from the
web to my pc to overwrite altered pages.

Also, FP did not import all files [even tho I had unchecked any import
limitations], overlooking numerous graphics and pages.

Why is it doing this? How can I stop Import Web from changing default.htms
to index.htms?

If your online hosted server has the FP SE you should not Import
- instead you should open the online site in FP and publish back to your PC
