FP03 screws up the html

Dennis

Hi,

I have been having some trouble lately with FP03 and webs that I import
(either web based or www based). FP is reformatting the html and causing the
page not to display properly. The design and preview mode shows the page
correctly but preview in browser (IE6).
Examples can be found at:
www.iwdinternational/japanese/adv/
www.iwdinternational/japanese/test (this is just a test so no links are
working)

I have recalculated hyperlinks and deleted temp files in site settings. I
can't physically find/delete any other temp areas as even with "show hidden
files and folders" selected I still can not view some folders. I did a
search fop .web files and deleted them. When I open the local files directly
in Dreamweaver or notepad, it shows the screwed up html but when I open the
pages directly in FP (diskbased) everything looks fine. What the hell is
going on here?????

System is XP PRO SP1, IIS5.1, DOT.NET 1.1, SE2002, NTFS drive

Any help would be appreciated

In the second link most of your graphics do not exist. Also you are loading
something in the page that has unlimited timeout. Whatever it is the page
never stops loading. Usually this is an indication of a large download such
as spyware. I am hoping that is not the case here.

The first one looked EXCELLENT. Nice.

The key word here is import. Importing a web does not import the navigation structure.
You must "Publish" the web to your computer for it to remain intact.

Sorry about the deli in response. It's tricky being in a totally different
time zone sometimes.

As I mentioned the second link seems to be working now
(www.iwdinternational.com/japanese/test/) and as it was a test there are
some graphics that don't work and cause the response lag.

FP was messing with the html so much that the top Flash movie was repeating
itself 2-3 times on the page. The left menu and top Flash are include pages
and it seems like FP is repeating the included pages. I don't know why it
has corrected itself online. Perhaps I need to publish the messed up html
that is on my pc in order to show you all what is happening.

The other link www.iwdinternational.com/japanese/adv/ is still not working
online. It is supposed to look like www.adventurecanterbury.com/nihongo.

The second link

I suppose my choice of words was incorrect. I open the site in FP (local or
www) then publish to my localhost.

I'm just not with it today.

Try this link instead for the site that IS working.
www.adventurecanterbury.com/default_jp.htm. The link
www.iwdinternational.com/japanese/adv/ is not displaying the flash, menu,
and table setting seemed to be strange.

On my machine in FP all looks fine until I preview in browser.

They're both displaying the flash here. I'm thinking that since they're both the same flash and they both end with the same static image, that it may be an illusion that it's not running on second page but it already has ? :-)

Hmmm, ok, this makes it even more strange. On my machine the first page
works but the second one has the table screwed up and the links (home, about

It is very easy to see the second page isn't working as it should. My

same specs as mine (XP Pro, IE6, IIS 5.1, + all patches). This is very
confusing and it looks like I will have to do a bit more experimenting or
just start using Dreamweaver. If I can't get a result, I'll upload the error
pages again and write a better/clearer post explaining the problem and see
if you guys can help.

Thanks, I appreciate everyone's help with this and it is so good to have

Ok. I have no clue why you can see the page correctly. You might try posting to the IE newsgroup.

are no menu links on the right side nor even the menu gifs are
displaying.
It is very easy to see the second page isn't working as it should. My
business partners PC displays the same screwed up page as mine. His has
the
same specs as mine (XP Pro, IE6, IIS 5.1, + all patches). This is very
confusing and it looks like I will have to do a bit more experimenting
or
just start using Dreamweaver. If I can't get a result, I'll upload the
error
pages again and write a better/clearer post explaining the problem and
see
if you guys can help.

Thanks, I appreciate everyone's help with this and it is so good to have
such a responsive newsgroup here.

They're both displaying the flash here. I'm thinking that since they're
both
the same flash and they both end with the same static image, that it may
be
an illusion that it's not running on second page but it already has ?
:-)

| I'm just not with it today.
|
| Try this link instead for the site that IS working.
| www.adventurecanterbury.com/default_jp.htm. The link
| www.iwdinternational.com/japanese/adv/ is not displaying the flash,
menu,
| and table setting seemed to be strange.
|
| On my machine in FP all looks fine until I preview in browser.
|
|
|
| |
| | | The link www.iwdinternational.com/japanese/adv/ is still not working
|
| This one's working as far as I can see. It takes a while to
load...maybe
the
| language characters - but it's working for me.
|
|
|
| | online. It is supposed to look like
www.adventurecanterbury.com/nihongo.
|
| This gives an error: Directory Listing Denied
| This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed

Weird. I'm seeing the same thing you are, and both sites have flash working fine as well. I wonder if their supposed to be exactly the same content on both.

| Ok. I have no clue why you can see the page correctly. You might try posting to the IE newsgroup.
