When I publish, FrontPage publishes index.htm as index.html (it even pops up
a notice that it's making the change). This naturally causes link problems
with my Home Buttons.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it? I can't even find
it mentioned in Help.

Thanks for any assistance.

Glen

If you are talking about publishing to the host server, the host server is
what determines the default home page. You need to contact your host to see
if they can add the index.htm, or if they require you to change everything
to index.html.

Make 2 index files for all sites.
Use refresh in .htm to move to .html
Now you cover all bases with all hosters.
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="5;URL=index.html">

That doesn't fix the broken nav bar issues
- FP will adjust all links to the host server home page file name
Rename the local home page filename to match the home page required by the host server if the host server will not customize their
list for you

Wasn't referring to rename
Your redirect is unnecessary if the home page is named correctly
