FP extensions or SharePoint?

Our server won't upgrade to SharePoint. When I try to update my site, it won't connect because the server won't install SharePoint. My server tells me that I need to use the FP extensions. What am I supposed to do?

Add the FrontPage 2002 extensions to the server and you can use them. It may
not be the best, for the long run, but it will solve the immediate problem.

Either using the FP extensions or find a new host that support SharePoint,
which has to be a Windows host.

My server already has the Front Page Extensions installed. However, when I try to open my site live in FP and edit it, I get the sharepoint error. How do I get around this so I can update my site?

Which version of FP are you using?
Which version of the FP extensions is your host running?
Which OS is your host running, Windows or Unix/Linux?
What is the exact error message you are getting?

Debbie,

You site is hosted on a Unix/Linux server, so you do not have access to
SharePoint features or functions.

So if you are getting this error when publishing means that you have added a
feature or function of FP2003 that requires SharePoint services, you will
need to remove this feature from your site and change you page
options/compatibility setting to not allow you to add SharePoint
features/functions in the future.

I haven't added anything to my site that I know of other than text, photos, etc. I did not know and do not know what it would be in sharepoint. I can't even get my site to open in FP now. When I try, that is when I get the error. I cannot open it to change it at all. I went into Tools/Page Options/Authoring and unchecked the SharePoint Services but still cannot get my site to open at all in FP.

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office
