FP 2007 Released Question

All,

Here's an easy one - so is the FP 2007 on the OEM site actually the
"released" version? I just wanted to make sure before killing the
database!

Thanks!

Yes, the one posted on the OEM secure site is the retail version of FP2007
(you can ship runtimes built with this version).

Lynda, I have login to the OEM secure site, but I am unable to find the
retail version...
I even have login to the "ece" site, but nothing there either...
Can someone help me?

How about the 2nd Beta release (Last release on the Connect Site). Is it
the same as the "Released Retail version"

Hi Richard, that 2nd Tech Preview build was close to the released
version but there were additional changes in the EEFs and Components
between that build and the released build. You can tell by the rev of
the components, released build is 3333.

Lynda,

I found the OEM site - I have not used it before, and I am confused about
the OEM License Agreement Number that is required. Apparently it is mainly
numbers.

We have a licensed copy of the XP Embedded tools and have also purchased a
few runtime licenses (we will purchase more when our product goes into
production). For the tools, I can find a Tracking ID on the CD box, a
product key that is mainly letters, and a numeric Product ID in the
Help/About box.

For the run time licenses, all I have is the mainly numeric image licensing
code.

Is there some other license that we have to purchase?

Help!

Thanks in advance,
Michael Bate

If I remember correctly, it's the number from the contract CLA from
Microsoft's OEM Agreement.

If I've got a older version of the FP2007, what do I need to do to install
the released version?
Would be simple as run the install for the released version, and it'll take
care of the upgrade's?

Thanks

Jason,

[Un]installing CTP versions of the FP2007 was noted in Release Notes. You should take a look there.
In short, yes, you do need to uninstall any beta version of the FP.

My personal experience with that was worse than described in the rel.notes. Any time I uninstall any version of FP CTP it deleted
most [almost all] tool executables (TD, CDM, etc.) so I had to go back, install SP1 tools and then SP2 update to the tools and then
FP2007 update.

Not sure what "upgrades" you mentioned below.

Oh, good. I wasn't just me then. :)

If you check the box for 'Show all updates' in 'Add Remove Programs' you
will show you two instances of the tools install and you should be able
to uninstall just FP and it leaves you with the SP2 tools.

Mike,

If I understood the problem correctly, this is how you can fix it. Go to
"add/remove programs". Check the checkbox "Show Updates" on top of your
"add/remove programs" dialog. This will let you uninstall components
seperately.

Hope it helps,

Boby

Yeah me too. It really should have been implemented better. Luckily I had
my database backed up and all I needed to install the TD, CDM, etc...

I tried that on Beta 1 and 2 and still lost all the tools.

I did that but still lost the tools. It wasn't a big deal, although I'm
too busy at the moment to risk it again so am putting off installing
the release version.
