FP 2003 Include Page problem

D

David Donaldson

Hi

I'm using FP2003 and publishing to IIS 5.0 with FP 02 extensions loaded on
it.

I've come across what I believe to be a software bug. When I use the
Insert->Web Component->Included Content->Page feature to insert a page in
the left side bar, it screws up the page formatting of the page in which it
is inserted after a while.

Here is an example of a page the way it should appear that was not done in
FP

http://www.thetravelinsider.info/info/contactus.asp

and here is the same page done in FP that initially looked the same, but
then screwed up all by itself (yes, I know that sounds unlikely!)

http://www.thetravelinsider.info/info/contactus.htm

Note that when I now look at the page (contactus.htm) the actual code for
that page has been modified by the code in the included page.

I suspect that there may be some problem with some of the things in the
included page (www.thetravelinsider.info/info/serverinclude/side_nav.htm )
but really don't know what the solution or workaround may be.

Would very much appreciate any help that can be offered.

Many tks

David.

(note that if you're replying direct to me, you'll need to slightly edit my
email address :) )

I should add that this is not the known bug that inserts the page data into
a shared border. This is a bug I can't find in the MS Knowledgebase that
inserts the included page data into the master page.

Hope someone can help!

Cheers

David.

Have all the patches, updates and service releases been installed for the FP
2002 extensions on the host server?

Hi

Thanks for this suggestion.

As far as I am aware, and as best I can tell, everything is up to date and
correct. The version of the extensions is 5.0.2.4803.

According to http://www.thetravelinsider.info/_vti_inf.html
The server is running FPVersion="5.0.2.2623"
- the SE have not been updated

There are some bugs in the FP2002 SE related to shared borders & include pages
so make sure you (and your host) see & apply all appropriate patches from:

For the Host/Server running the FP2002 SE

For Unix server problems on the FP2002 SE see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q299360
The latest FP SE for Unix that fix the problems
(FPSE 2000 1.4 patch and an FPSE 2002 SR 1.1 patch)
are at http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport

For NT server problems on the FP2002 SE see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q298827
For FrontPage Server Extension 2002 Update - see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q317296
and security patch
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS02-053.asp

Note
- On Unix servers sometimes the patches do not fix the bug when the include pages include any other FP webbots - especially forms
