FP 2003 Beta

M

Mofo

I was a beta tester for Office 2003. I have just uninstalled it and have
tried to reinstall Frontpage XP, but I cannot get it to run. It tells me
that it is not properly installed and to please reinstall. Well, that does
not help. I then get a runtime error that says "This application has
requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way." All of my other
Office XP programs seem to work just fine. Any ideas out there?

Several users have reported this problem
(seems the uninstall does not clean out some registry entries)

Try the below registry edit before you repair/reinstall FP 2003

Uninstall FP2003, then Find the registry key:
hkcu/software/microsoft/frontpage/explorer/fp explorer/settings

Any of the values listed in here that start with the number 5 should be
deleted. There should only be one or two for folder view, but any view that was
used/modified with a beta version of FP2003 could be affected.

PS
Also delete all FP Temp and *.web files before reinstalling FP2003, then run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks when FP2003 opens each
site

Thanks Stefan, but so far neither of these solutions seem to make any
difference. I did not delete any FP Temp and *.web files though. Where would
I locate those? Perhaps I should completely uninstall FP XP and reinstall
it."Stefan B Rusynko said:

Restart your PC, turn off all background programs (especially virus or firewall script blocking) and reinstall FP2003
- when done, if you get an error look in your Windows default TEMP folder for the install logs and error details

Don't know that it matters, but... I am not trying to reinstall FP2003. That
is the beta version that I was beta testing. I have uninstalled that and am
now attempting to reinstall my prior version, what was Frontpage XP. I will
do as you suggest when I get home from work and thanks for all of your help
thus far.

Well, nothing has changed. It tells me "Microsoft FrontPage is not installed
properly on this system and cannot function. Please reinstall Microsoft
FrontPage." I press OK and get a Runtime Error. "Program:C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\FRONTPG.EXE" This application has requested
the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I press OK and it shuts FP
down.

Then you should see an error in your Events Viewer or the FP2002 installation log
All I can recommend is to roll back you system (using system restore) to prior to the BETA install)
