FP 2003 acting as if it can't find the website folder

Working on a website from my computer, it's saved to my desktop.
Lately, I cannot save certain things, such as pictures that I've
inserted into a page or changes to hyperlinks. The system acts as if
it cannot find the website.

I can save HTML pages, new links, etc. but for example, if I inserted
a picture, I can save the page. BUT, if I make changes to the picture,
such as increasing the brightness or cropping using FP, I click on
"Save" and it just sits there as though it is saving but never
completes the task.

It also does this if I go to make hyperlink structure changes, and as
I just discovered, when I go to look at the site settings. The program
completely hangs up and I have to go to to Task Manager to close it.
It shows that FP will be using all available resources.

Stats:

MS FP 2003 (recently upgraded but it did this with 2002)
Windows XP
Don't believe I'm using PWS, but can't confirm
I edit on the desktop then use separate FTP to upload
Recent upgraded system, but problem previous to that
Running Athlon 1.3g, 512 MB ram, 40g hard drive, plenty of room
Other websites that I am running do NOT do the same thing.

Close FrontPage.
copy and paste the following into the Run box by clicking Start > Run

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir

and then click OK.

Delete everything you see in the folder that opens
Close the window.
Reopen FrontPage and your web.

Also, always make sure you launch FrontPage, then open your web, and then open a page to edit.

If you are just double clicking the desktop folder containing your web and then right clicking a
page to edit it, you do *not* have your web open and FrontPage doesn't know where to save changes.
