FP 2002 won't publish changes

Iv'e used FP 2002 for several years and uploaded with the "publish web". When
publishing, my name and password come up as usual, then a pop-up saying
"server can not complete request... page not found...contact sevice
provider..." Unlike publishing before, no files appear in the split screen
for either my site on the hard drive OR the existing site on the server and
the actual "Publish" button is greyed out. The "publish to" location is
correct. I can upload changes using "ftp" to the server fine but not with the
"publish" feature. I called the service provider several times and they
checked to see if connections and extentions are working fine. I have also
reinstalled FP 2002. I have tried uploading several other of my web sites and
the same message appears. I may have changed some default publishing
settings, but can't find anything unusual under "properties". How do I get
back the "publish web" feature? I can publish to a site on my hard drive and
the publish feature will work, but the changes will not apply. I have tried
recalculating the hyperlinks also. No other changes to firewall, security
etc. What do I do???

FTP has corrupted the online site Server Extensions
- have your host repair them
The open your online site in FP to check it is OK

The publish will Not be available if you open just a page
Always open your local site in FP and use File Publish to reenter your online site url as http://yoursite.com/

I just started having the same problem. I am using SBC Ameritech as my web
hosting company. Could this be the source of the problem?

I finally got the web server to ininstall and then reinstall the server
extentions. This worked till I ran into conflicts I had because I had made
changes with FTP earlier. The web service showed me how to ininstall and then
reinstall the server extentions on my own which was needed as it kept
corrupting. I eventually had to wipe out the site on the server and do a full
web install, and it worked so far.
thanks.... Alan

Exactly:

"The server could not complete your request. Contact your internet service
provider or web server adaministrator to make sure that the server has the
Frontpage Server Extensions or Sharepoint Services installed."

Thanks for your help
