FP 2000 publishing same files repeatedly

Guest

I just added a 184kb .doc file to my web and every time I publish the web
(with publish new pages only checked) FP 2000 uploads the file everytime. Is
it the .doc file? Should I change it to .htm?

The time-of-day clock on your PC and on the remote server may be too far apart.

If that were the case, wouldn't ALL his files be publishing repeatedly?
Yet he only mentions 1 specifically.
I'd bite the bullet and mark it as do not publish already.
Recalculate might help also.

That would be if he were publishing by time stamp comparison right? Would doing a full publish help?

No the Word .doc file doesn't have any hyperlinks in it. It's just a typed
file (actually small book).

Thanks

Did you import or pasted it into your site using FP?
- if not Run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
- if so export the file and then reimport it
Before doing either delete any web cache files
In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web cache files
Usually in
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

I used the Explorer and copied the file into the web folder. I tried
recalculate with no success. I can't find export but I moved the file (again
with Explorer) and then imported it. A new folder appeared in my web. It
still publishes the .doc file everytime I publish the web.

Thanks forthe help

Delete the file from the local and remote webs. Recalculate hyperlinks on
both.

With your FP web open, FILE | IMPORT the document into your web.

Do a full publish.

Then, thereafter, publish changed pages only.
