Found New Hardware!!!!!

Windows tried installing the ide bus master driver for my board but came
out that there were no drivers. System works fine and I am at peace with
that. Annoying however is that everytime the pc is started I get the "Found
new hardware" stuff for the same driver. How can I stop XP from prompting
and beginning with that installation every time. (Afterall, the end result
is "windows found no driver......." .

thanks

Why not try installing the driver? Get your motherboard drivers cd (or
download from mftr.'s website) and point the New Hardware Wizard to the
drivers and let it go through the process.

mftr's cd doesn't have it because I put it in and windows couldn't
find it either.
There is no way a motherboard comes without drivers for its controllers.
You probably aren't looking in the right place. Put the cd in and then
when the Wizard asks you where the drivers are, manually browse to the
correct folder on the CD. Sometimes you have to hold Windows' hand to
show it where the drivers are. If you aren't sure about which driver is
what on the CD, ask a knowledgeable friend to help or contact the
motherboard mftr.'s tech support.

Malke also refered you to the MB manufacturers web site as an
alternative location. That said, you can either provide the system with
the approriate driver, disable the "banged" hardware, or put up with the
promping on every restart.
