Found New Hardware Wizard can't find CD driver

I installed a 52x32x52 CD-RW driver but windows
reports "New Hardware Found" but then can not find a
driver for it buy searching itself, the Internet or Win
XP CD. Now it also started doing the same thing for the
old CD-ROM drive which was performing normally.

First I connected on secondary channel as Slave and CD-
ROM as Master. I
tried it on its own
as Master. Then I changed CD-RW as Master and CD-ROM as
slave, both on the
Secondary channel.

In Windows Explorer both are listed and I can read the
files stored on CDs.

In Device Manager they are both listed as "... working
OK". CD-ROM slave
location is shown as 1(1) but the location for CD-RW is
shown as 0(0), same
as the HDD. I would expect it to be 0(1). Am I right?

What can I do to stop Windows finding a "New Hardware"
everytime I switch
on, and is the "location" data correct, if not what can I
do to change it?

Now I removed the new drive and old CD-ROM drive gives
the same problem. Everything works OK except windows keep
trying to install a new driver every time I start windows.

I am using Win XP Pro adn Pentium 4

Did you follow the instructions for installation of your burner that were
provided by the manufacturer? My CD-RW drive has to be installed as the
master on the same ribbon as the other optical (DVD) drive in my system.
The installation cd provided by the maker of your drive will have the
drivers you need. Point the New Hardware Found Wizard to it, if prompted,
after first installing the drive per the instructions from the drive
manufacturer.
