DVD-RW does not find driver

Hi

Help needed to select drivers for a newly installed DVD burner

I have connected a NEC ND2500A DVD burner to my XP home system. When it itstalls the new hardware it picks ups the driver for a CD-ROM and not A DVD-burner. Now my CD-ROM and DVD-RW use the same drivers and both can read CD but not DVD. The DVD disc just spins and spins. How do I get the burner to select the correct drivers. Can I manually enter the drivers and which drivers do I select. Currently I have the CD-ROM set as Master and DVD-RW set as slave. Help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

First off, I would set the NEC ND2500A to Master and the CD ROM to
slave, but this is not necessary I don't think. Second, make sure you
have the most recent firmware on your ND2500A -
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1740 . Third, check
and make sure UDMA mode is enabled. Click Start-Run-Type devmgmt.msc and
click OK. Now expand IDE\ASPI Controller and right click on Secondary
Controller and click Properties. Now go to DMA Settings and make sure
they are set to DMA if available. Do this for all the Controllers you
have under your IDE\ASPI Controller. 4. After you reboot from doing that
and it still isn't working, open up Device Manager just as before,
expand DVD\CD Drives, right on all entries under that and click
uninstall. Now reboot and Windows should reinstall the drives upon reboot.

Here is a KB Article dealing with your problem that you can read if you
want as well:
