DVD-RW stopped recognizing RW media and DVD media I have burned.

I have a Sony DVD/CD-RW and a NEC 1300A DVD+/-RW slaved off of it.
Everything that is supposed to work on the Sony is doing fine.

Just recently, my NEC 1300A DVD-RW quit recognizing RW discs and, once a DVD
disc has been burnt with data or movies, it won't recognize them either. I
can still read most commercial DVD movies (but not all) and I can read CD
media of all types. I am using Nero 6 Ultimate and it is updated as well as
my DVD burner firmware.

Anyone have a clue?

I have a DVD Writer that came with my computer, Its a HP and it isn't
recognizing blank DVD's as well. Everything was fine till a couple of weeks
ago. Not sure what to do as well.

My research keeps leading me to a problem with udfs.sys. Microsoft has a
hotfix but I don't want to pay the $35 to see if it works.
