Forwardinf from outlook 2003 when offline

I have an outlook account and also set it to forward a copy of all emails to
my gmail account( for when I'm from my computer or travelling without it) but
it seems that outlook only picks up (and forwards) these emails when the
computer is switched on.

I am going overseas in a couple of days and not taking the laptop - how can
I pick up my emails when away?
Help please! :)

What type of mail server?
