Formatting U3 device problem

Hi, I have several USB memory sticks that have the U3 software on them.
Following some advice from several NG's I took them to work to format
them on an XP machine, but when I get home and plug them into my Vista
machine the U3 software is still there. I checked them at work after
quick formatting and they appeared to be empty. Is a full format required?

Formatting doesn't remove the U3 launchpad. See:
http://www.u3.com/uninstall/
Beware of doing it if any of them are Vista comptaible U3 software as you
may need to go to the USB maker's website to check first if it can be
re-downloaded at some stage if needed.
