Hi,
I have Windows XP. I have 2 hard drives, the first is IBM 60GB IDE and the
second is a Maxtor 80GB SATA drive connected via a Silicon Image 3112 SATA
Controller.
I have installed a new Maxtor 200GB SATA drive which is connected to the
SATA controller card and it is detected by windows in start up and in windows
explorer.
However, it says I need to format the hard drive which I do by right
clicking on My Computer > Manage > Disk Management
All goes good except when it gets to around the 91% mark. When it gets to
about here the system just freezes and when i reset the system, it still says
i need to format the new drive in order to actually use it.
I have tried closing all other programs etc and then formatting the drive
but it hangs everytime i try it.
I have searched the net for hours for some clues on what it could be but I
could not find anything. Can someone please help??
