hard drive problems

On my computer I have 3 hard drives, 1x 80Gb ATA Maxtor HD, 1x 80Gb SATA
Maxtor HD and 1x 200Gb SATA Maxtor HD.

I was working with my computer and the last 2 days I had delayed write error
on my 80Gb SATA HD but when i restart the computer it is fine again. Today
the same happened but when i restarted the computer I right clicked on My
Computer > Manage > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management.

It says that the hard drive is empty, File system is RAW and if i click on
the drive in Explorer it asks me if I want to format it? I havent done
anything to the drive since it went funny. I have tried running PowerMax
v4.21 and the advanced test says that the drive is 100% error free so I
cannot understand why its like this. Also I have tried another SATA cable
which is working on the other drive and that doesnt make a difference either.

I tried a file recovery program on the drive to see if it could retrieve any
of my files but before I could run it, it gave me the error messeage:

bad parameter in boot sector: root directory cluster (4119533773) > count of
clusters !

Can someone explain to me what this means and how I can fix it? Please help
me get my data back i desperately need it my dissertation was on there :'((

All replies are very much appreciated!

Three hard drives. What for?

What other hardware does the PC have?

Because you might be overtaxing the power supply.

I would download and run the free diagnostic tool that all drive
manufacturer's provide for their drives from their sites and test your RAM
because faulty RAM can cause all sorts of problems that seem to originate
elsewhere.

See this page for free RAM diagnostic programs:

Have you heard of making backups of important documents?

A 128MB flash drive costs about $20/£10.

I have a 550W power supply and everything else in the pc is standard i.e.
Sound card, 128mb graphics card, 768mb Ram (which I will test but I doubt
that its the problem).

I have read other forums where people have had this problem and someone
suggested that you can do an MBR fix? Im not sure if this works but its just
something that was mentioned. If anyone knows about this can they plz
comment?

I know i should have backed up my data and i will from now on :|
Ill try the ram test and let you know how i get on and ill be back later to
give my feedback

Thanks

Update, I have tested the memory, even did the extended tests and they all
passed so i can safely say that it is not the problem. I have also run Hdd
regenerator which found no bad sectors so can someone pleaseee explain to me
what the error message (bad parameter in boot sector: root directory cluster
(4119533773) > count of clusters !) means.

Yes, your PS is fine for your system.
