Formatting Marks

All of a sudden one day the formatting marks started appearing on the screen
as I composed e-mail messages. I have learned how to turn them off each and
every time I compose messages - - but I would like to turn them off
permanently.

I've searched and searched but I'm sure it is fairly simple and I"ve just
missed it.

Turn them off and then save the Word template.

I have since found the keyboard combination -
CTRL-SHIFT-Z which turned off the format marks.
