show paragraph marks permanently on

Hi -
I have Outlook 2007. When I compose an email, paragraph marks are
permanently turned ON. I cannot get them to go away.
I see the button on the Format Text - Paragraph tab, but when I click it
doesn't respond. SHIFT - CTRL - 8 does not work either.
What did I do wrong?

strewth, these forums really are useful.
I found the problem was that the setting had been changed elsewhere which
meant that what I did on the display page was ignored.
Hopefully this will help someone out in the future, as I have found these MS
forums to be useless:
1. Open a new message.
2. Click on the Windows symbol (top right) to get the menu
3. Select Editor Options (bottom right on this menu)
4. Display
5. Clear out any checkmarks that appear in the "Always show..." boxes.
