I am upgrading a computer with a new mother board and
processor, can any one give me some insight on how to
format my hard drive and do a clean install? I am running
windows xp, the only windows cd i have is an xp upgrade
cd when i upgraded from windows ME. Thanks in advance,
Dylan

You have a problem with that,1st.You'll need to use the old hd,on first start-up
load xp cd,boot to cd,install xp,new copy. All is well but with a new hd and no o
on it xp home upgrade will stop, reason,no former windows os found. With old hd
at this point xp will install and configure new board with it.Solution, install new hd o
old board,install a copy of xp,then replace board,boot to cd,install xp.

IF you have the ME Cd you will have no problem
Just start with the XP CD in place and perform a new install formatting the HD
during the process.
When XP asks for the ME Cd remove the XP CD and put in the ME CD
IF you do not have a ME CD...borrow one
