Formatting: Distributed vs. Fit Text

I have 2 PCs. Both are running the same versions of Word. After reading
through another post, I have learned that by enabling Asian Languages in
Office Tools (I chose Japanese, Chinese (simplified and traditional) I can
now use "Fit text" when formatting text.

Why is it that the other PC calls this same command "Distributed" and is not
"greyed out" even when there is no text selected? I can push the button and
the whole page will become "Distributed" or as I call it "force justified".

I remember reading a poster mentioned that "Fit Text" will not work in some
situations in tables--which would be a problem for me. Is there a way to get
the "Distributed" option to come up on my 2nd PC?

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Ctrl+Shift+J will invoke the Distribute Text command in any version of Word
(you need not have Asian languages enabled), but I don't know if it's what
you want. It's certainly not the same as the "Fit text" command in tables,
which reduces font size to make excess text fit.

Thanks Suzanne,

I know about the CTRL + Shift + J from inspecting my PC with the "working"
Distribute command. It's just so odd that it's freely available on one side
as a simple button and so hard to get working on the other in the same way.

I did not realize the Fit Text would actually resize characters. That means
it won't work for me. I'm just hoping to be able to figure out how to use
the button again rather than having to input the CTRL + Shift + J if possible.

I really appreciate the input!

Chris
