Formatting Charts

Newbe Working with 2007 (original document was 2003) all of my chart data
Series Fill colors have a mind of their own. The chart bars are from data in
excel. I've tried manually changing each bar color - saved the document -
gone back in to edit another feature of the chart and it reverts back to a
color that appears on the Theme color bar but not in the order I need or want
- is there a way to have all charts in a file have the same color flow (i.e.
bar 1 = blue; bar 2 = dark grey; bar 3 = light grey....etc.

You can change the color scheme so it's in the order you want.

But if you're moving back and forth between 2003 and 2007, the colors will
change. This is because color schemes are translated differently in the two
versions, so the colors shift.

If you choose a color not on the color picker -- that is, if you don't use a
theme color and instead go to More Colors and choose from there -- do they
stick then?

Yes - they seem to be sticking when I customize the color. But because I
have multiple slides with charts - I'm having to manually go to each bar in
the chart and customize - is there a way to create a customized color scheme
that will be available to me any time I want to edit a chart? And if you can
tell me how to change the color scheme in the order I'd appreciate that as
well. You are a tremendous help - thank you.

Create a custom color scheme by going to the Design tab and clicking Colors,
then "create a color scheme." Make your changes and name the scheme.

Right-click the color scheme in the Colors dropdown and choose "apply to
selected slides" to apply the color scheme to your chart slides.

Colors are applied to the chart fills in the order of Accent 1, Accent 2,
etc. So just make sure your accent colors are in order.
