Format in registry is invalid...?

K

Kenneth

Howdy,

I just ran Command.Com from Start | Run.

The DOS window opened, but then an error message appeared.

It said:

c:\WINNT\System32\Command.com
System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers.VDD. Virtual
Device Driver format in the registry is invalid.

It then gave me the options of "Close" and "Ignore."

I chose to ignore, and the command prompt seemed to work properly.

How can I find, and, if possible, correct, that invalid entry in the
registry?

Thanks,

Hello again,

I read the KB piece you suggested, made the reg modifications,
re-booted, attempted to run Command, and got the same error as
before.

That seems odd, but I may just live with it as the KB piece says
that choosing "Ignore" usually works just fine.

Might you have further suggestions?

Yes, check one more time and make SURE you selected REG_MULTI_SZ for
the data type, I believe REG_SZ is the first on the list and I goofed
when I tried it... <hangs head in shame> but if you made the same
error, I'll feel better so..... check one more time, OK?

Hello again,

I checked, and indeed it is REG_MULTI_SZ, but I still have the
problem. (actually, more a nuisance than a problem because it seems to
cause no difficulty if I just click "Ignore.")

Thanks again,
