Form results to email

How do I get form results to be sent via email instead of
the default _private/feedback.txt? When I try to change
the results to be emailed in the form I get an error
message to the effect that the server extensions have not
been configured to send email. When I search for this on
my hosting provider's site I get a very difficult to
understand reponse telling me to open the IIS manager
(have NO clue what this is), right click the web site
that FP extensions are installed, select properties and
then the server extensions 2002 tab and configure the
email from there. Does anyone have any idea what they are
talking about on this? It sounds like I need to contact
my web hosting provider but wanted to run it by you here
to see what you think before doing so. Thanks a bunch!

Yes, you must contact your host to enable and configure the forms to email
transport in the FP server extensions on your account.

Hi Maureen,
it sounds like your host is giving you instructions to set up forms -> email
on your own pc, you might want to do this to test out your forms before
going into production but it's not necessary. The error message you get
tells you email is not set up on your pc - doesn't mean it isn't set up your
hosts server.

Why not try making a simple test form, ignore the error and upload to your
host then test it out - it should work straight away. If not you will have
to talk to your host.

Thanks for the input Tom and Jon. I think there is
something the host needs to do because I did try
uploading the form and had an error page displayed when I
tried to "submit" my response. I have an email message in
to my hosting provider who (I hope) will know how to fix
the problem. Thanks again :)

If you are editing your page locally, you will get that error message every time even if your site
DOES support the FP Extensions. Because you save the page locally and our local page can't support
it, you get the message. Just say NO to removing the email address. Then publish the form ad try
it out on the actual site and see if it works.

This is the error message I get when I modify the form to
send the results via email: "Cannot run the FrontPage
Server Extensions on this
page: "http://www.stadnikdesigns.com/feedback.htm"

Front page extensions are installed on my site, but there
is something additional that has to be done - probably by
the host.

Any other thoughts welcome :)

You are not sending the form to an email address, you are saving to text, do what Mr. B said and you
will not have problems. Mike
