Form feed problem

I am copying a pre formated printer file to a HP 5L laser
printer on LPT1 the file contains no form feed command,
but the printer form feeds, Win 98 does not FF, and
another computer with a HP 6L running XP also does not FF.
I have tried everything I can think off, without success,
any ideas gratefully received

where does it FF ?
If it is in the middle of the print job, maybe it could be due to the LPT
timeout setting.

Searching old posts in this NG you can find how to change it.

Yes sorry, I failed to say it prints the file correctly
and completely and does the form feed at the very end.
