I think I asked about this a while back,
but if I did get a reply, I never saw it.

I'm working on a friends laptop, with XP Pro on it.
Currently, it starts up and logs on as her (with admin access)
without any log on screen.

She wants the log on back, so she can give her kids access
ewith0out compromising her settings and privacy.

File system is NTFS.

How can I force the logon screen to come up at bootup??

Start, run, 'control userpasswords2', tick the box saying users have to
enter a password to logon? Or use TweakUIXP to un-set the automatic
logon (whichever you used to set it up the first time).

If you are automatically logging on and want to use the
Welcome screen try the following.

Click start/run and type in control userpasswords2 Hit ok.

Check the box Users must enter a password to use this
computer.
Click apply then ok.
Now reboot.
