Video resolutions

I'm currently running W2K, with an ATI AIW9600 on a 19" CRT.
The monitor is getting flaky, so I'm planning on upgrading
to a flat-panel, possibly a 19" wide-screen.

I'm running at 1280x1024 now, and haven't changed the video
drivers or resolution in about 3 years.

The 19" FP displays use 1440x900, so my question is...

Is there any way to run 1440x900 on my current video card
(updated drivers, or?), or will I need a new video card
to match the native resolution of the FP?

This probably has been answered a hundred times or so. Yes, your card
does widescreen with the generic ATI drivers just fine, and no, you
won't see any widescreen resolution listed until a widescreen display is
connected to the card.

Unfortunately, my ISP doesn't keep more than a weeks worth of messages on
their news server.

Thanks, I was hoping that would be what would happen.

But none of them are widescreen so that doesn't answer his question ;-)
