Forced to reinstall Word 2003??

I am using Word 2003 and trying to insert the "Page X of Y" auto text into
the footer of my document. When I click on the option to insert it, it only
gives me "PAGE". I have searched here and found what looked like a good
solution to the problem (Missing Normal.dot - Word 2007). However, when I go
into the options and look for the Normal.dot file, it's not there. Does this
mean that I am forced to reinstall Word? Please advise.

No, you do not need to reinstall Word, and doing so will not fix your
problem.

I'm not sure what you've read - Word 2007 has normal.dotM and not
normal.dot. However, your (2003) normal.dot should be in Documents and
Settings\(userid)\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates folder.
