I recently changed my computer name. When doing so i got a
message along the lines of "Was not able to disconnect
from host" I went to the DC, checked the "Active Directory
Users and Computers" My computer is listed with its new
name however if i go to map a network drive my new
computer name is listed along with the computer name that
i just changed. If i go to expand my old computer name it
gives me an error message stating that it could not be
found on the network. I have no idea how to get rid of
this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and
Happy New year!

We have a small network and currently do not have a DNS
server in house.

Maybe try removing the computer from the domain and re-add
the computer to the domain. I see you said Active
Directory Users and Computer so it is assumed you are
running Active Directory. I imagine you do have a server
running DNS. It probably is running on your DC.

I see what you are saying. It was not listed under the
DNS. However after the long weekend the problem seems to
have corrected itself. Thank you both for your help and
the best to you in the new year.
