Is this what you wanted? I sent it the day after you requested I post it,
but you were apparently too busy to respond.
Thank you.

I thought that was what I had done. I had replied to the group in
answer to one of his questions/suggestions and never heard anything
back, so I still have the problem.
Thanks a lot. SO I still have the problem and now I'm being spanked
for doing exactly what I needed to do?

It seems that you are mistaking Peter's sig for a communication to you
directly! That's just a generic sig, intended to inform *all* newbies
that replies belong in the newsgroup. So calm down. :)

That being said, instead of starting a new thread, you would have caused
less confusion had you replied to Gerry's post, keeping that thread
intact.

Finally, Peter posted a link that might be pertinent. Did you click on
it?

When I responded to his question about the EVENT log, I responded to the
group,
so I don't know what I did wrong.

Yes I went to that site and downloaded the removal tool.

But malware (virus) etc. is not my problem and my machine doesn't act like
that person's computer.
I have a good anti-virus and a couple good anti-spyware programs running and
2 of them run a full scan every 24 hours.
In addition to that I run Microsoft's Malware Removal Tool and STINGER once
a week.

My machine just will not Shutdown or Restart using the normal procedure.
In order to shutdown or restart, I have to use the buttons on the front of
the machine.
Everything else works perfectly. I believe something has gotten messed up
in the registry and I don't know how, or how to fix it.
Here again are the results from the EVENTS log that he requested (this one
is new):

Peter never said you did anything wrong. All he did was post a link he
thought might be helpful to you. That was all. It appears that you
mistakenly thought his generic sig file had something to do with your
post. It didn't; that sig appears at the end of *every* post he makes.
It's for the benefit of new folks; he's informing them that instead of
asking someone to e-mail them an answer privately, they should realize
that answers will be posted to the newsgroup so that *everyone* could
benefit from reading them.

And now I see that you *did* answer in that thread (and Gerry didn't
answer you back), so disregard what I said; I was wrong. I thought you
had started a new thread for no reason, but I see now is that the other
thread seemed to die. Perfectly understandable that you started a new
one.

D.H., Anna seems to be on the ball on this one, and I noticed you didn't
answer her questions. Here's her post again in case you missed it:

Also, open Control Panel. Click on "Switch to Classic View" if you are
currently in Category View. Double-click Power. In the new window, you
will see four tabs. What are your settings, especially with regard to
Hibernation?

I had not seen her response so I appreciate your giving me the link.
Because I wasn't getting any response I deleted the original posts.
I there some way to get back the original thread?

Thanx
