footnote text style

Jeff

I am using Word from Office XP and have one frustrating feature I cannot
seem to get around.

Every now and then I will copy and paste some text into a new footnote I
created. The pasted text turns out to have a style "plain text" instead of
"footnote text". However when I click on the thing on the top left that
shows me the available styles I can use, footnote text is never one of those
available. Even if I click on "more" and the bar on the right opens,
"footnote text" is still not available.

How can I make footnote text style become available to apply to such pasted
texts?

Click on Format -> Styles -> Footnote Text

When you've done it once, it will be available for the whole document.

While clicking the arrow next to the Style list box, press Shift. All styles
will be displayed.
