footnote numbering

Word 2007. I can not put footnotes in order. It goes up to 69, then continues
from 154. If I add any new footnote after 154 it just continues previous
numbering 70... I have tried all suggestions, so there no tracked changes or
comments (no hidden ones either), no section breaks. Could somebody help me?

Firstly try running Programs Microsoft Office Office Tools Diagnostics.

If no success, try this:
File New blank document, take a space bar space and then Insert File
(whatever the name is of your file with footnote issue) and then go to top
of page -delete spacebar space - save with a new name.

Reattach your styles if not your default styles and see if that helps.

If you are sure that there are no manual (typed) notes, then you can try
copying and pasting the document except for the final paragraph mark
(Ctrl+A, Shift+Left arrow, Ctrl+V) and pasting (Ctrl+V) into a new document.
