Footnote continuation message

Susan

Is there a way to get a continuation message to appear by
default in all footnotes. In other words, getting it to
appear in any footnote that goes on to another page
without having to create it on a document by document
basis?? Can it be added to the normal.dot?? Thanks

Hi Susan

Yes, you can. But don't save it in normal.dot; create a new template especially for this kind of document. To do that, open a
document that is formatted as you would like this kind of document to be. File > Save As. In the Save As Type box, choose Document
Template, and give it an appropriate name, such as "Reports.dot". Click OK. Word has now created a new template for you. (You can
see this from the name of the document in the bar at the top of the screen.)

Delete any text in the template -- but you might leave in any text that appears in all documents of this kind, such as common
headings or headers and footers. Save again, and File > Close.

Now, to create a new document of this kind, do File > New and choose your template. Your continuation message will apply to each
document you create from your template.

Hope this helps.
