Footnotes

Is there any way of changing the way footnotes are presented? In my document
a number of pages have approx 10 very short footnotes. Because each footnote
appears on its own line, this takes up a lot of space in the footnote area.
It would be great if the footnotes could appear on the same line separated by
semi-colons, thereby taking up only a couple of lines of the footer - is this
possible in any way? Thanks very much, Grainne

What you can do is format the paragraph marks (¶) following the footnotes as
hidden text. That would make them display as a single paragraph (assuming
that you have turned off the display of hidden text) and also to print that
way (assuming that you have turned off the printing of hidden text).
Unfortunately, Word still reserves vertical space for each footnote, so they
would take up the same number of lines/paragraphs at the bottom of the page.
In other words, it isn't worth the effort.
