footer won't print

IE 5.5 SP2
Win98SE

My footer won't print. It is the default - &u&b&d. The header prints fine. I
tried deleting the footer values, close IE, open IE and put them back in,
close and re-open IE - still doesn't work. I don't think it has anything to
do with the printer - same problem if I print to other printers. I've never
seen this, all other pc's I use work fine with the footer printing. Even
Print Preview shows the right footer but it doesn't print.

Anyone have an idea on this?

Your printer font and your IE size all have an impact on this.
Not much you can do if you set IE View Text Size to the smallest font.

If important you can use (some may be not all settings) &u&b&d in your
header.
