Footer problem

In the footer of my document, it contains two }} brackets, a tab, then the
paragraph mark. I'm unable to delete the squiggly brackets out of the
footer. It is appearing whether there is a page number in the footer or not.
Also on page 2 of the document, when I click on the brackets, it jumps to
the header of that page. Any ideas or suggestions. Thank you.

I suspect that the document is corrupt; this type of header/footer
corruption is often a first symptom. See
