Foobar2000 0.9 beta 9

Foobar2000 Media Player is a very very recommendable player. It is
developed by Peter Pawlowski who is or used to work on Winamp3.FB2000
uses a plain and simple UI - no skins, no fuss. Filesize is 200 kb,
while in playback mode the player approximately consumes 1.9 Mbyte of
your RAM which is so much less compared to Winamp or MS Media
Player.supported formats: MP3, Ogg Vorbis, MPC, FLAC, Ogg FLAC, WAV,
MOD (needs foo_mod.dll), SPC (needs foo_spc.dll), monkey's audio (needs
foo_ape.dll)-32bit floating point audio processing pipeline, with 6dB
hard limiter and conversion to 16/24bit (dithered) at the end.- lossy
formats (MP3, Vorbis, MPC) are decoded directly to 32bit FP so there's
no clipping- transparent rar/zip reading (slow)- full unicode support,
new playlist format (m3u8) storing international filenames properly
(using UTF-8)- runs *only* on win2k/winxp or newer- built in SSRC
resampler component (DSP)- reads APEv2 tags from MP3 files (id3v2 is
not supported and will never be)- fully customizable keyboard
shortcuts, including global hotkeys..The special version includes
nearly all official components and selected 3rd party components.

v. 0.9 beta gives me some problems. It keeps asking for utf8api.dll,
which the previous version doesn't and which I don't have. So I
reïnstalled the old version and everything is OK again.

Thanks. I really like foobar2000. I also like VLC and media player
classic. They too play audio, though not 'dedicated' for it.

I think it's an exciting time now that open source tools completely
outlcass proprietary ones. Well, for the users anyhow.

I don't understand why you don't refer to the original website
(directed at software updates from klitetools.com..)

Isn't it so that foobar2000 v0.9, because of it's Unicode-friendliness,
doesn't work in Windows 98? At all? I hope not. I doubt it, really. But
still, I must ask.

Either you are on Windows 98/ME or you are using old plugins. Make
sure that all your plugins do work with the new version.
