Select the text that you want to increase the font size of, then click in the
font size box (where it says 12, or 72, or whatever), type a font size number
(such as 144, or 250, or whatever), and press Enter.
Word can scale any TrueType font from 1 point to 1,638 points in half-point
increments. To help you calculate the desired size, there are 72 points to
the inch. The key is to type the desired size into the font box and *press
Enter.* This last step was not required in Word versions before Word 97 and
may not be intuitive.
