Font changes when I change message format to HTML

If I change an e-mail from plain or rich text to HTML, the font changes from
my preferred Verdana 10 to Times New Roman 8. I cannot figure out where this
setting can be changed.

I've set every font preference that I can find to Verdana, but still the
Times New Roman shows up when I change the format to HTML (whether it is a
new, forwarded, replied to, or re-sent message).

Does anyone know of a place to change this? Thanks in advance for your
assistance.

Sanjay, they already were all set to Verdana, but it still changes to Times
New Roman when I switch to HTML format.

Did you also check "Always use my fonts"? And you cannot be using Word as
editor.

Yes, I have always use my fonts checked, and I don't have Word as my editor.
Yet...Times New Roman keeps on showing up...only for HTML...plain text and
rich text fonts stay put.

The behavior happens because Outlook 2003 <?> defaults back to whatever the
default font is in Internet Explorer. In this case Times Roman.

PS - Tested using Outlook 2003 and Word turned off as the e-mail editor.

Well how about a little bit more info. What version of Microsoft Outlook
are you using? Do you use Word as your e-mail editor?

I use 2003, and I do not use Word as an editor.

Hmm.... what operating system (include service pack level) and version of
Internet Explorer? Also, is Office 2003 have the latest service pack +
critical security updates applied?

Just so you know, my testing was done under Windows XP SP2/IE7.

Windows XP pro
IE 6.0 SP2
All service packs updated.
It's a work computer for an IT company (EDS), and we have the latest of
everything pushed to us via our LAN

I'm stumped. I just setup Windows XP SP2/IE6/Office 2003 SP2 as a guest in
VMWare and what I posted before still holds true.

Here are my test steps...

Test #1
* Start a new message (HTML)
* Switch to plain text
* Switch to HTML (got desired font that was set in IE)

Test #2
* Start a new message (HTML)
* Switch to plain text
* Typed in some text (e.g. Testing)
* Switch to HTML (got desired font that was set in IE)

Based on this, what am I missing in order to repro?

You're not missing a thing. That's exactly what I do, and mine switches
fonts when I do it. I've double checked default fonts in IE, Word,
Outlook...you name it, and they are all set to Verdana...but my text still
switches to Times New Roman when I switch to html. Arrrrgh!

Another idea just popped into my head, open Outlook and select Tools >
Options > Mail Format > International Options. What is/isn't set here?

Not selected:
Use English for message flags
Use English for message headers on replies or forwards

Selected
Auto Select encoding for outgoing messages

The preferred encoding for outgoing messages is Western Eurpoean ISO

Thank you for trying so hard to figure it out!
