Running XP Pro - I Setup my folder options ie toolbar and
folder view option. I close the window, but when reopen
it has returned to a default setting ??????

Download TweakUI XP and set your maximum folders to a higher number(mine is set
to 8000) or go to Kelly's Site. She has a script that will do the same thing.
