Folders with numbers

L

Lloyd Miner

I have three folders at the root of my "C" drive that have strange names,
they are all numbers.

One folder is named: 0a6cef9405ae71691bd1fe
In this folder is another folder called sp2 and it is empty

A second one is named: a107b1f40e58fbcb0b06
In this folder is also an sp2 folder and under that an Update folder
In the update folder is a file called update.exe
If I execute this file it tells me that update could not find the update.inf
file

the third is named: aad31e8
In this folder is another folder called sp2 and it is empty

My question is can these folders be deleted?
I suspect they somehow got created during an update that never finished.

Thanks in advance

I had the same thing for a while. One day, I created a new folder,
and moved all those folders into it. Nothing broke, so a couple
months later, I deleted it all. Still nothing broke.

Try doing that. If something breaks, put the folders back in the
root.
