here's the thing: When I click on a folder to open it,
the action taken is to "search" rather than to "open".
The "open" option is listed under folder options/file
types/folder/advanced, but when I change the action
to "open", the change refuses to take effect. I've also
gone into the registry and increased the number of folder
settings Windows remembers + deleted all the old
settings ... I'm sure this is all due to some stray
program I used to change my default folder icon. But that
program is gone now and I'm back to defaults ... still no
luck.
